$7,500 Grant for Eastern Asia Internship Available – Due Feb. 1, 2018

The Freeman Foundation Eastern Asia Internship Grant has opened up special applications to students wanting to intern in China or South Korea. Students may use an internship provider the university has contracted with, ISAto intern in either Shanghai, China or Seoul, South Korea, but they must act this week!

Students should submit an application, and qualified applicants will be placed directly in an internship. The application instructions and materials can be found here: http://www.croft.olemiss.edu/home/freeman-internships-in-east-asia.

The $7,500 grant amount covers the provider fee and still leaves between $1500 and $2000 for airfare and other expenses. Housing, visa fees, insurance, and ground transportation are included, as well as some cultural programming. ISA also provides on-site support.

To take advantage of this option, you will need to submit the complete application for the Freeman Internship Grant (describing an ideal internship for your essays) by Thursday, February 1 at noon.

You would not be expected to submit the internship certification, but your application will be much stronger if you can submit evidence that you tried to secure an internship on your own, e.g. screenshots or .PDFs of correspondence with potential internship organizations.

Why should you apply for this program?

You will receive $7,500 to fund an eight-week summer internship for 20-40 hours per week. That is the equivalent of being paid $23.44-$46.88 per hour. An international internship in Shanghai or Seoul will greatly contribute to your professional growth and be an impressive resume item.  You will get the opportunity to travel and experience a new culture on the other side of the world, and you will have a far more interesting summer than your friends
