Jeremy Meuser, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Management
Jeremy D. Meuser, Ph.D. (Assistant Professor of Management) brings an eclectic background to the study of leadership, holding degrees in computer engineering, philosophy, and spirituality, and a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago and entrepreneurial and managerial experience in the private sector in information technology, high school teaching, and internships in the medical field. He was selected as a 2021 Western Academy of Management Ascendant Scholar, a prestigious award given to the very best early career scholars in Management recognizing excellence in research, service and teaching.
His core research interests involve servant leadership, leader-follower relationships (leader-member exchange and idiosyncratic deals), and the construct proliferation problem in the leadership literature. He has published in the Academy of Management Journal, Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior, The Leadership Quarterly, the Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Business Horizons, and The Oxford Handbook of Leadership in Organizations. He is an associate editor for leadership articles at Group and Organization Management and the Journal of Managerial Psychology. He also serves on the editorial review board for The Leadership Quarterly. He currently serves as Co-president of the Network of Leadership Scholars.
Dr. Meuser has taught courses in leadership, leadership development, introduction to business, organizational behavior, organizational theory, international management, and global business. His work developing a servant leadership development program has been twice recognized with the Ole Miss Excellence in Community Engagement Award. He also serves as the faculty advisor for the Ole Miss student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.
