Mr. Owens Alexander


Owens Alexander serves as an Instructor of Management in the University of Mississippi School of Business Administration and as the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Ole Miss.

Alexander has had a long career as an entrepreneur and corporate executive. Most recently he was the Co-Founder, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Real Phone Corporation in San Diego, California. Real Phone, a start-up Company, that developed the world’s thinnest and lightest mobile handset.

Prior to founding Real Phone, Mr. Alexander was the President and CEO of Titan Wireless Inc., a $200M wholly owned subsidiary of the Titan Corporation that operated global VOIP networks; and developed and deployed various wireless and mobile networks around the world. Also, he served as Vice President – Corporate Development of the Titan Corporation where he led M&A activities. Titan Corporation was acquired by L-3 Communications.

Alexander served as a Senior Vice President and Manager of the Utility Practice for San Diego-based Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). He also served as an SVP in the firm’s Telecommunications Group leading business development and venture asset coordination efforts.

Moving to the west coast in 1994, Mr. Alexander served as Vice President of Marketing for Southern California Edison and Senior Vice President at Edison Source, an Edison International affiliate. At Edison he led an organization of 700 people in sales, marketing, program development, and customer service for 400K industrial, commercial, and institutional customers, billing over $3 billion dollars annually.

Alexander began his professional career at BellSouth Corporation (now AT&T), where he spent 21 years and held numerous senior management positions including, Director-Corporate Quality Management, General Manager-Customer Service, General Manger-Business Marketing and District Marketing Manager.

Mr. Alexander has served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at CONNECT in San Diego where he mentored numerous start-up and early-stage companies, and on San Diego’s CommNexus NextStage Committee evaluating early stage business pans.

He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Business Statistics and earned an MBA from Louisiana State University. Alexander and his wife Emily moved to Oxford in 2013.
